Classes For

January 28 - February 4, 2012.

FSS 110 – Fashion Styling. Do you want the ‘look’ but can’t quite figure out what your look is? Let local fashion model and Cazenovia College fashion design major Kamille Allen show you how to obtain the look that is right for you no matter what your age. This class is recommended for students ages 11 and up. Handouts will be given. Supply list from your closet: dress, shoes (casual and dressy), earrings, bracelets, jeans or pants, blouse, t shirt, tights and/or knee highs, hats, purses/bags. Let Kamille show you what's hot and what's not! Saturday, January 28. Time: 11am – 12:30pm. Cost $10. This class date has been rescheduled from Saturday, January 14 due to inclement weather.

FSS 113 – Beginning Sewing for Adults. In this class students will master sewing straight seams. If time allows, we will also focus on a few industry sewing techniques and complete a small throw pillow. Supply list: 14 X 14 pillow form and ½ yard of cotton fabric. Tuesday, January 24. Time: 6 - 8 pm. Saturday, January 28. Time: 1 – 3pm (rescheduled from January 14, due to inclement weather).  Cost: $40.

FAI 101 – Fashion Sketching for Kids. If your child loves fashion and drawing, we have the ticket for her or him. This class will introduce kids to fashion drawing. They will learn how the croqui figure is drawn. They will learn basic techniques on how to draw clothes on the croqui figures. Students make their croqui figures, then trace them. Supply list: two pencils, colored pencils, tablet of tracing paper. Supplies can be purchased at Commercial Art Supply. Saturday, February 4. Time: 10 – 11:15am. Cost $25.

FSS 103 – Beginning Sewing For Kids Workshop. Students must know how to operate a sewing machine. We will cover the basics of sewing as well as learn the tools of the trade. Students will master how to take proper measurements, as well as complete a project. Students will also learn basic sewing skills, how to read a pattern and pattern layout. This workshop meets twice. $10 supply kit can be purchased from instructor. Saturday, February 4, 11. Time: 10am – 11:30pm.  Cost $45.

CCW 145 – Corset Making. We will use the fundamentals of corset making in this workshop. Cazenovia College Fashion Design major, Kamille Allen will guide students in making their first corset (blouse). Sewing experience is required. This class is ideal for teens that have a flair for fashion. Supply list will be emailed upon registration. Saturday, February 4, 11. Time: 10 – 1pm. Cost: $100.

LHM 145 – Seam Finishing – French Seam. Seams are a mainstay to many sewing projects. Perfecting your seams is a must for a professional-looking project. In this workshop students will master the French seam. A French Seam is a seam which encloses the seam allowance. This seam is ideal for light weight cottons, linen and silks. When French seams are used lining is not always necessary. All supplies are included. Friday, February 3. Time: 10 -11:15am. Cost $30.

FAI 201 – Basic Fashion Illustration - Adults. Pre-requisite FAI 110. In this workshop you will learn how to get your design ideas down on paper. Students will go through the necessary steps in drawing the fashion figure. We will use the 10 head croqui figure student to create balance in their illustration. Our focus will also be on proportions, getting them correct. Supply list: Tablet of tracing paper, pencils (black & color). Friday, February 3. Time: 6 – 7:15pm. Cost: $25.

FSS 110 – Sewing Machine Basics – Adults. Take control of your sewing machine. If you’ve never used a sewing machine or if you are just a little rusty, this is the class for you. We cover basic sewing machine instruction, maintenance and trouble-shooting. Saturday, February 4. Time: 12 – 1:15pm. Cost: $25.

Prom Diva Reception

High School Juniors & Seniors, your prom will be here before you know it. You and your parents want that night to be perfect from start to finish. Here at Peterson Sewing School, we want that for you too, so let's get it started early. 

You (and your parents) are cordially invited to the Prom Diva Reception on Saturday, February 25, 2012. Time: 3 - 7pm, You will be able to view some of our custom made prom dresses and gowns. The Prom Diva Jewelry Collection will also be available for your viewing.
